Berendsen Fluid Power recently commenced a major hydraulic services contract for a high profile mine site in NSW. The client is one of the world’s largest gold mining companies, operating in Australia, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea and West Africa.
The two year contract is for the servicing of various hydraulic components and systems onsite during site shutdown event.
The Project
Over the contract period, the Berendsen Sydney team will be involved in six site shutdowns. Our team of four field technicians assigned to this project will be required to complete a variety of hydraulic service work during the shutdown to ensure minimal site downtime. Some examples of the onsite service work to be completed during the shutdowns include:
- Conveyor roll back braking unit service and maintenance
- Take up winch service
- Luffing unit service
- Drive unit service
- Grinding mill brake service
- Lubrication of equipment
- Changing of filters
- Repairing leaks
- Oil sampling and testing of performance systems
- General site maintenance
In addition to the onsite work, the customer also regularly sends equipment to our fully equipped Sydney branch workshop located in Wetherill Park, NSW. Service work completed in the workshop includes the ongoing repair and maintenance of various hydraulic components and systems including cylinders, shell and tube heat exchangers and power units.
In addition to the execution of the service contract itself, Berendsen’s Sydney team completed significant preparation in the lead up to the commencement of the contract including:
- Completion of a five day site induction course
- Ensuring service vehicles meet strict site requirements
- Ensuring PPE and uniforms meet strict requirements specific to above and underground mine work
- Provided certifications to endorse our capabilities including trade certificates and supplier agreements
- Completion of drug and alcohol testing
